Ah, the sweet pang of delight at the purchase of a new book… And oh, the chilly shiver that runs up our spine at the thought of our lack of shelving. Readers tend to accumulate (an act more widely known as “hoarding“) books and placing them either in random order or in neat stacks labelled To Be Read, Future Reads or other optimistic stuff like that.
And there comes a time in every reader’s life that they can’t deal with this mess anymore. If you want to escape this feeling of frustration, do yourself and your home a favor and set off the delightful task of Organizing your books this weekend (fun, I know. Not. But it can be sort of fun and creative and is something you will eventually be proud of).
It’s not difficult to organize your books. Get some ideas for organizing & artfully displaying your favorite volumes here:
Η αλήθεια είναι πως οι βιβλιοφάγοι ζουν μεγάλες συγκινήσεις: την απόλυτη έξαψη του να αγοράζεις καινούρια βιβλία – αλλά και την αγωνία και το άγχος της έλλειψης χώρου. Ακόμα και όταν η στοίβα μας με τα αδιάβαστα κοντεύει να φτάσει στο ταβάνι, εμείς εξακολουθούμε να σκεφτόμαστε αισιόδοξα αν και όχι πολύ ρεαλιστικά, ότι κάποτε θα τα διαβάσουμε όλα!

Creating a reading nook from nothing 😉 – Δημιουργήστε μια γωνιά ανάγνωσης χωρίς καν έπιπλα!
Use pretty bookends to (try and) keep them straight – Χρησιμοποιήστε όμορφους βιβλιοστάτες
Add a sign or memento to make you smile (more) – προσθέστε κάποιο σήμα ή ένα αναμνηστικό από ταξίδια σας για να ομορφύνετε (κι άλλο) τα ράφια
Use them creatively – Σκεφτείτε δημιουργικά
Spruce up your coffee table with a selection of poetry, surprise your visitors with a selection of children’s books or sparkle up some conversation with some carefully chosen coffee-table books.
Προσθέστε στο τραπεζάκι του σαλονιού ή σε ένα δίσκο κάποια από τα αγαπημένα σας, ή βιβλία που ξέρετε ότι θα προκαλέσουν τη συζήτηση ή ακόμα κάποια ωραία coffee-table βιβλία.
And if you really want to go crazy, you can always organize them alphabetically, by genre or … have them color coded! I have tried to do all of those but I always end not knowing where I put what and eventually return them to their good old familiar position.
Και φυσικά αν έχετε χρόνο και όρεξη, μπορείτε να τα τακτοποιήσετε στα ράφια σας αλφαβητικά, ανά είδος ή… ανά χρώμα. Εγώ έχω προσπαθήσει αλλά κάθε φορά μπερδεύομαι και τα ξαναβάζω στην αρχική τους θέση 🙂
